Asteroids
The asteroids are debris left over from the formation of the solar system. Most lie in a belt between Mars and Jupiter. Only a very few are ever visible to the naked eye in a dark sky but those few can easily be seen with binoculars even in the light polluted skies over a large city. It is only necessary to have good star charts and to know exactly where they are. I have photographed several from my back yard in Salt Lake City.
