The Access Road
This photo shows the scene from the summit of the mountain in the Book Cliffs which must be ascended via a primitive road in order to then descend into Range Creek Canyon.
The altitude here is about 10,000 feet and the road coming up from the valley below can be seen in both the foreground and the background. It is not wide and in most places
it is nearly impossible for vehicles going in opposite directions to pass. The road is quite steep in places and four-wheel drive is recommended. During and soon after a rain, the
road is impassable to nearly all vehicles. In the direction opposite to the image below, the road descends into Range Creek Canyon.
