American Avocet

Found over a wide range of Western North America, the Avocet is 17 to 19 inches long, with a wingspan of about 28 inches. It weighs between 9 and 12 ounces and feeds on small invertebrates found in shallow water.

Taken with Nikon D-100 and 300mm Nikkor lens with 3X converter attached. Kodak Royal Gold 1000 color negative film.

Marbled Godwit

The Marbled Godwit is a shore bird that feeds on aquatic invertebrates, insects, green plant matter, and seeds. The birds average 16 to 18 inches in length and can often be seen flying over the Great Plains in large, noisy flocks, performing interesting aerial displays.
