Jackrabbit

I have a habit of walking down to my mailbox early in the morning when the weather allows and sometimes I take my camera with me. There are a lot of rabbits living in the area and I often see them in the morning looking for food which seems to be common in this part of Utah. I saw this particular rabbit at a distance and decided to stand still in the road for a time, after which he obligingly came running up to me, not realizing what I was because the jackrabbits are notoriously shy of humans. Thus, I was able to capture him on the chip in the Nikon. As we can all see, he has been wounded at some time previously, having lost part of his left ear, likely to a predator.

Picture taken during the summer of 2019 with the 300mm zoom lens on my Nikon 7200. The one below was taken a few seconds later as the rabbit came quite close to me.
