Nova Sagittarii 2001 No. 3

This was one of two unusually bright novae to appear in the late summer of 2001.   I missed the first one in Cygnus but captured this image of the second.

Taken September 8, 2001, with the 300mm Nikkor lens at F:4.5, an exposure of 15 seconds.
The nova reached magnitude 7 on September 5.   The star Alnasl is just off the right edge of the
frame and the bright star near the bottom is 58 Sagittarii.
