M41

M41 is an open cluster of about 100 stars in Canis Major, about 2300 light-years distant.  It is estimated to be about 200 million years old.

Image taken March 12, 2010, with the Nikon D-90 operating on the C-14 at F:7.  Exposure is 10 seconds at ISO 3200.
