M3

M3 is a globular star cluster about 34,000 light years containing approximately 500,000 stars. It is one of the best globulars for visual viewing, and is a favorite of late spring and early summer.

Taken April 20, 2009, with the ST-8 on the C-14 operating at F:3.5 Exposure is 30 minutes, using T & A

The above image of M3 was taken on June 4, 2002, with the 237 camera in fastar mode. Exposure was 75 seconds using track and accumulate. The result was processed with Maxim DL and Adobe Photoshop to bring out faint stars. Compare with my earlier shot of M3 taken with the C-5. (this one is almost upside down in alignment)

Taken March 13, 2001- exposure was 4 X 10 seconds, C-5 with f:6.3 focal reducer
