Eclipse Photos

Taken:  Feb. 26, in the Caribbean Sea between Aruba and Curacao

Hardware:  Celestron C5+  operating at F:6.3 with attached Nikon camera body

Film:   Kodak Royal Gold 1000 negative
 

  1. The eclipse begins:  the sun is about 1/3 covered (shot through a solar filter)  (54 K jpg file)
  2. The Diamond Ring effect:  only a few seconds before totality  (59 K jpg file )
  3. Bailey's Beads:  the sun shines through valleys in the mountains on the moon's limb  (58 K jpg file)
  4. A solar prominence glows red high above the photosphere just left of the top of the disk   (33 K jpg file)
