Saturn's moons

Image taken just before dawn on October 15th, 2001 (very early on the 15th UT) with the 237 camera on the C-14, operating at F:11. Exposure was 1 second; weather conditions were poor- the seeing was awful and there was a strong breeze. Tethys is the moon just left of center at magnitude 10.0 and Dione is the one just above the ring system, at magnitude 10.2 it is almost lost in the glare of the planet. Due to the weather conditions, the moons are much larger on the frame than they would normally be.

Image taken at the same time as the one above. Rhea is the moon just below center at magnitude 9.5 and Enceladus is the one just left of the ring system, at magnitude 11.5. Due to the weather conditions, the moons are much larger on the frame than they would normally be and are slightly elongated due to the wind buffeting the telescope.
