Pisces

Pisces, The Fishes, is a large but faint constellation between the Great Square of Pegasus and Cetus, the Whale. It looks like two fishes tied together at the tail. It boasts only six 4th magnitude stars and only one of these is named: Alrescha. This star is a close binary system consisting of two type A stars lying about 139 light years from Earth. Pisces does not contain any other objects of note and this region of the sky is relatively devoid of naked eye stars, thus the 4th and 5th magnitude stars in my photo below appear to stand out. But they will only do so in the real sky if it is quite dark. The very bright object at left is Jupiter.
