NGC 457

NGC 457 is an open cluster in Cassiopeia. The cluster is about 8,000 light years from Earth and is about 21 million years old. While most of the more than 100 stars are of magnitude 12 and fainter, there are two that shine at magnitude 5 (at bottom below) and magnitude 7 (just to its right). A third bright star is also obvious to the upper left of those two in my photo.

Taken October 23, 2013, with the C-14 operating at F:7 and the ST-8 binned 2 X 2. Exposure is 150 seconds.
